I know all about Hebrews 10:25, and I’ve taught from that passage many times over the years, from the perspective of the pastor trying to scare his members into coming to church, as well as from the perspective of someone following Jesus outside the camp with no church agenda, a little more wisdom, and a lot more maturity, so I can rightly divide the Word of God and not let my “yeah, but” get in the way of what the Holy Spirit wants to say.
What does Hebrews 10:25 mean, in context? Have you forsaken the assembling of yourselves together when you stop going to church? Let’s see what the Word of God has to say.
Spot on! Glory to God!
Thank you Chip for the teaching today. I can so relate to what you have said. I have had that Heb. scripture brought up to me many times telling me “What about forsaking the assembling” and I am without a “covering,” or being rebellious, and even how Jesus “died for the church.” Yes, he did but not for a building or a program or a denomination. His Church/Ecclesia, the Living Stones called out ones is His true church. I myself have been outside institutional church for sometime and I have never felt so free, free from performance and trying to fit into something I was always so uncomfortable with and I began to see the light into what following Jesus truly is.
It isn’t about fitting into a mold or brand of religion. People will ask, “what faith are you from?” Are you a denomination? Are you non-denomination? Inter-denomination? It’s like I must be something of the above to have a faith.
I will just say my faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ. My faith is not from any brand of religion, thank you Jesus for opening my eyes for now my eyes are only on YOU.
Chip, Things just get clearer every time you teach. “here a little, there a little,” The Holy Spirit is so good. Thanks
Amen, This is the truth whether we believe it or not. Move out of the Babylone to His Body which is the Universal one. Jesus wants His body not the BIG buildings.
Chip, be encouraged God is with you.
I’m glad… ? I still benefited from a help from God to understand quite well audio without support written. And I also understand better, more, the teaching. ?
This is awesome. I have a relative using this verse all the time to try to prove his point.
It appears evident to me; that even when we encourage one another as fellow Christians we are “assembling together” in the Spirit of Christ. That does not mean having to MEET one another physically! Yes, it is so easy to isolate ourselves and NOT support one another through our individual trials and hardships. But, going to a particular building to encourage and support one another will not make us more of Christians. Nor will partaking of various traditions or religious rituals help “prove” that we are somehow more faithful in our obedience to the Lord. Our relationship to Him, and to “one another” is to be One in Spirit, and not One in Flesh! Let us follow Him, and not how we are told by “a substitute” what is good for the Sheep of His fold.
i agree with you 100% as it was going through my mind about church . The pity is as for me born as catholic and husband not much keen on these things i have much difficulty sharing the revelations i receive and few members have come out but many more need to know the truth .You are really blessed as both of of you are in one mind and faith .please keep my family in prayer that our sons and others come to know the truth that set them free in Jesus Name Amen.Thank you for awesome message
Great thank’s Chip,
One thing we can say also about Hebrews 10, 25 is this : the original greek text says : ” don’t stop meeting”. Jewish people were in danger to be scattered leaving their new faith in Jesus Christ. Being together to share Christ was the way to grow in faith.
thank you chip for your great message, I always enjoy listening to the word of God that you bring forth, you are a blessing to the body of Christ.
It was 2004 that i left the ‘church’ and decided that the WORD
was not being honored there (2 diff small town groups) and to my children I desired them to
see the Savior meet their needs, and looking deeper than the ritual and fleshly things happening there. It was good at times and yet, i couldnt subject the children as a single mother to the kinds of in-your-face sin and hypocrisy there…NO thank you. Father said, “I will lead you, trust ME”…and he has. So we read and prayed
together…
directly in the home. It was so much more condusive to the relationship they needed
to have and years later, the two are more aware of h0w to pray and how to walk in the Spirit, bnot depending on others for their faith.
How many ways can Abba say ” Come out of her my people?…partake not of her sins…”Then I will call youmy sons and daughters” . This is the goal. When you walk away, the Spirit does open up doors that He was waiting for us to forsake the false …for the real ONE!
God’s children are the temples of God, He dwells in us. He doesn’t live in a building made by men hands. The reason why we are churching is because that’s the only place we can be anything we want to be except real. Hypocrites.
